Multi-Font Graphic OLEDs

Multi-Font graphic OLED displays allow simultaneous use of multiple languages on a single screen. These displays feature a built-in integrated circuit (IC) containing more than 37 standard font tables and supporting over 50 languages. This built-in functionality removes the need for custom character creation or additional memory for language storage.

The Multi-Font IC includes ASCII, Unicode, and ISO8859 font tables, offering excellent compatibility and flexibility. Fonts are available in both fixed and proportional widths, and the IC can be accessed at clock speeds of up to 30 MHz.

The user’s microprocessor unit (MPU) communicates directly with the Multi-Font IC to retrieve font data strings and display the desired characters. Communication is handled via a simple 4-wire SPI interface. Font data is structured vertically in bytes, read from the Multi-Font IC, and transmitted to the display controller for rendering.
